Drew Brannon Scores the Hat Trick - Pole, Win and Championship
10.03.2009 - Punta Gorda, FL
Drew Brannon a sixteen year old kid out of Miami, Florida got to experience a moment in time that is dreamed of by many but attained by few. Drew Brannon became the 2nd youngest ASA Late Model Series Champion this past weekend at Charlotte County Motorsports Park.
The season started out right with Drew pairing up with SS Greenlight Racing where he began a new education of racing under the tutelage of Butch Miller, 3 time ‘ASA National Tour Champion’. The match was one that had the perfect blend of success. Drew a feisty kid with raw determination and drive and Butch, a calm and collected master of his trade…..racing.
Together they launched a season that made us all stand up and take a second look and remember that there is a greatness in all of us that sometimes remains unseen until the right factors come along to bring it to light.
Drew had a great day at CCMP right from the start; Drew took fast time in practice, unofficially breaking the past ASALMS Track Record. Next, he officially broke the track record during the ARP Bodies Qualifying. Of course when it was time to draw for the invert with pills 6-10 in the bag, he got the 6 giving him the best starting position he could get. On lap one of the CCMP event, Drew earned enough points to win the ASA Late Model Series South Division Championship. From that point on he worked his way to the front of the pack during the ‘Best Show in Town 100’ and at lap 22 took the lead and went on to win the race.
